The 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid is almost here! While we wait for Ford to release all the details on the upcoming version of its light-duty hybrid pickup truck, our preview guide has a few ideas about what to expect.
What is the 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid?
There isn’t a specific F-150 Hybrid model or trim level. Instead, the F-150 offers a hybrid powertrain that’s optional for almost every trim model. For example, if you want to save money on a new hybrid truck, you can choose the entry-level XL trim model and equip it with the optional hybrid powertrain. If you prefer a more luxurious ride to work, the upscale Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trim models also offer the PowerBoost hybrid engine as an option.
We expect the 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid powertrain to include:
- 3.5L PowerBoost fully hybrid V6 (430 horsepower, 570 lb-ft of torque)
- Hybrid electronic 10-speed automatic transmission
- Rear-wheel drive
- Optional four-wheel drive
How efficient is the 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid?
Although the EPA ratings haven’t been released for the upcoming trucks, we don’t expect much to differ from the current ratings. Depending on equipment, an F-150 with the hybrid powertrain currently earns 25 mpg combined (25 city/25 highway). In the light-duty truck segment, the F-150 hybrid is one of the thriftiest options available.
How can I configure the 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid?
Since we don’t expect much to change for the 2023 model year, the upcoming hybrid powertrain will likely be available for any F-150 truck featuring the SuperCab. This two-door crew cab is perfect for hauling your work crew around, but it also doubles as roomy family transport.
Which features are available for the 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid?
Since you can add the hybrid powertrain to any F-150 trim model (except the off-road-ready Raptor), you can really equip your truck any way you want. We expect to see the six main trim levels reappear for 2023: the base XL, mid-grade XLT, upscale Lariat, sporty King Ranch, posh Platinum, and top-tier Limited.
Along with options like leather upholstery and heated seats, the F-150 hybrid trucks can be loaded with savvy infotainment features and driver safety aids. We also expect the upcoming F-150 hybrid to offer an impressive list of work-friendly features, including the Tailgate Work Surface, Interior Work Surface, Pro Power Onboard generator, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist system.
