Both the 2020 Ford F-150 XLT and Lariat are big on power, performance, and modern, truck-style comfort. And that can make choosing between these full-size trucks all the more difficult. Before you make a final decision, check out our comparison guide. We’ll help you take a closer look at these two F-150 trim models.
What comfort features are available?
The 2020 F-150 XLT is nicely suited to your daily drive, keeping things casual yet comfortable with its cloth upholstery and carpeted floors. The front seats include lumbar adjustments, which add to your on-road comfort, especially during long trips.
Inside the Lariat, you’ll enjoy increasing luxury. This truck comes standard with leather upholstery, which automatically increases your on-road style. Power-adjustable pedals add to your behind-the-wheel comfort. Dual-zone climate control lets you set two perfect temperatures for driver and front passenger.
Which tech features come standard?
No matter which F-150 you select, you can expect to stay connected. Both the XLT and Lariat come standard with Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system. You’ll love its responsive, easy-to-use 8-inch touchscreen and Sync voice controls. Sync 3 also includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone connectivity, technology that displays apps on the central touchscreen and gives you access to your phone’s sophisticated voice controls. Hands-free infotainment has never been so easy to use.
What’s under these hoods?
The 2020 XLT comes standard with the F-150’s base engine, a 3.3-liter V6 engine that makes 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. However, shoppers can choose to add any of the four optional engines to their XLT, depending on their towing and hauling needs.
With the Lariat, you get an automatic engine upgrade. This F-150 comes standard with the turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine, which does an excellent job of balancing premium power with fuel economy. As with the XLT, you can switch out the standard engine for any of the remaining engine options, which is great news for drivers who require more power.
If you crave greater hauling capabilities, for example, the 5.0-liter V8 engine is optional. It increases capabilities with 395 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque. The line’s most tow-friendly engine is the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, which supplies 375 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque in the XLT and Lariat. (A higher-output version of this engine makes 450 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque and is available for the Limited and Raptor.)
How much does each F-150 cost?
If you’re looking for an especially great deal, choose the F-150 XLT, which starts at $34,760. The Lariat is a little bit more expensive, starting at $42,750. You do, of course, get a lot more luxury at that price, plus an engine upgrade.
