When you’re shopping for a brand new heavy-duty truck, you’re going to have both the 2023 Ford Super Duty and GMC Sierra HD on your radar. Which one deserves a place in your life? Our side-by-side comparison helps you make the right choice.
Wallet-Friendly Price: 2023 Ford Super Duty
Although Ford hasn’t announced the MSRP for the upcoming Super Duty, last year’s truck started at $40,445. Hopefully, the entry-level model will retain the title of more affordable truck. The 2023 GMC Sierra HD isn’t much more expensive, though, starting at $42,700.
Substantial Power: 2023 Ford Super Duty
Once again, we’re not quite sure how much power the upcoming Super Duty will make. But Ford prides itself on consistently turning out the most power and the biggest tow ratings. Last year, that meant a turbodiesel V8 that makes 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. Max tow ratings reached 37,000 pounds. For 2023, we expect even more power from a new high-output version of the turbodiesel V8.
The GMC Sierra HD’s most muscular engine is its 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8, which is nearly as powerful, with 445 horses and 910 pound-feet of torque. And max tow ratings come close to that of the Super Duty, maxing out at 36,000 pounds.
Smart Tech Features: 2023 Ford Super Duty
In addition to the Super Duty’s top-of-the-line heavy-duty performance, this redesigned truck is pulling out all the stops with its work-friendly technology. The 2023 trucks offer a long list of new features, including an onboard scale, blind-spot monitoring that takes a trailer into account, and a system that automatically aligns the truck’s conventional hitch ball with a trailer receiver.
The 2023 GMC Sierra HD delivers the usual gadgets, including a smartphone-friendly infotainment system and optional premium audio system. This heavy-duty truck offers a tow-friendly camera system with up to 15 different views. Forward collision and blind-spot monitoring are also available. However, you’ll find all of these features on the 2023 Super Duty as well.
Modern Comfort: It’s a Tie!
Both heavy-duty trucks are roomy and comfortable. A variety of trim models offers different levels of luxury, with options like leather upholstery and heated and ventilated seats. You can add a panoramic sunroof to either pickup, along with a heated steering wheel or dual-zone automatic climate control. Depending on how you outfit your model, you can drive home with a very luxurious truck.
Your New Heavy-Duty Truck
In the end, the newly redesigned 2023 Ford Super Duty is the best choice. Not only can this new Super Duty tow and haul more than competitors, but it also offers features never before seen in the heavy-duty segment! Prices listed are subject to change.
